POSITION TITLE:     Crisis Intervention Clinician  

PROGRAM:               Mobile Crisis Intervention Services

Mobile Crisis Intervention Services (MCIS) provides home and community-based responses to children and youth experiencing a behavioral or psychiatric crisis.  Mobile Crisis services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days per year and are available throughout the greater Waterbury, Danbury and Torrington regions (42 town catchment area).  All staff are required to work their assigned schedule but may be asked to shift/alter this in response to high workflow time periods. 

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Crisis Intervention Clinician is responsible for direct services with children, adolescents and their families including but not limited to evaluation/assessment; home & community-based services; outreach; case and care management; brief intensive therapies; crisis intervention; record keeping; as well as collaboration with other professionals, team members and related community services (including consultation and/or community and/or school placements).  They are assigned to carry a company-provided work cell phone and responds to all calls for assistance in person or by phone/telehealth (as clinically indicated).

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To provide home and community based comprehensive crisis evaluations, treatment plans and treatment of children, adolescents and families.  This includes evaluation/assessment; home and community-based services; outreach; case and care management; individual, group, family and intensive brief therapies, as well as crisis intervention.
  • To assess and implement crisis stabilization plans that include immediate tasks for crisis management and connection to clinically indicated resources and services.
  • To provide community-based outreach and treatment services as defined by the treatment plan and/or client need, in a variety of settings including but not limited to: agency offices sites, client homes, schools, emergency rooms, shelters, police stations, etc. 
  • To complete clinical documentation thoroughly within required timelines to ensure appropriate and ethical care.  To respond to any feedback or revisions in a timely fashion to ensure ongoing compliance with agency and regulatory standards. 
  • To carry a work cell phone and to be available to provide emergency mobile (in-home, community, emergency room, school-based, other) services including both phone and face to face interventions.  All clinicians are assigned a primary schedule but will be required to cover shifts outside this schedule during periods of high client need.
  • Maintain contact and provide follow-up with families requiring this service including phone and home visit support.
  • Maintain confidential and/or any other required program documents, including but not limited to insurance and/or managed care required documentation.
  • Maintain a level of productivity as determined by the program supervisor.
  • To assist program management or agency leadership with assigned tasks or projects that develop to support the communities we serve.
  • To work collaboratively as a member of a team with other professionals and concerned parties involved in cases.
  • To assist in the organization, marketing, planning and implementation of the program. This includes participation in community events, completing outreach to community schools and agencies and other local/regional events.
  • To actively participate in supervision with a Team Leader/Clinical Supervisor around clinical care and formulation, adherence/skill development to MCIS model, feedback, and other professional development tasks. 
  • To participate fully in onboarding, regular training opportunities and monthly staff meetings to ensure optimal functioning of the MCIS program.
  • To serve on agency or community committees as directed by program management.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have the ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of both agency and client matters.  Must understand and be able to display the clinical knowledge and expertise necessary to perform crisis intervention. Must have knowledge of cultural diversity and be capable of displaying cultural competency to the populations served by the program. Must be able to display knowledge and expertise in clinical theory and practice as it relates to the populations served by Wellmore, Inc. Must be capable of working as a part of a team and be able to effectively communicate with both families and professionals (in writing and verbally). Working knowledge of the greater Waterbury, Danbury, or Torrington area is a must! Must have a reliable personal vehicle (and adequate insurance as delineated in the letter of hire) to provide out of office (in homes, the community, at schools or hospitals, etc.) services daily.   

 

Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) preferred.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

A master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, social work or related human services field with at least a one-year clinical internship working with children and/or adolescents or families is required.  Two years’ post graduate clinical experience working with children, adolescents or families is preferred. Experience in family therapy as well as family systems theory and practice is preferred.

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

Must be licensed by the CT DPH as a mental health provider at the associate level (i.e.,: LMSW, LPCA, LMFTA); full Clinical CT licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) is preferred.

 

Valid driver’s license with good driving record, reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance.
