How you make a difference
As a Registered Nurse, Infection Control, you will work under the guidance of the Health Service Administrator to implement strategies that prevent the spread of infections and diseases. Your role will involve educating nursing staff on proper infection control measures and providing both direct and indirect care to all staff while adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations. You will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and coordinating healthcare services for staff and will be required to communicate your findings to the HSA and relevant committees.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee policies, procedures, and education related to infection control and employee health, with guidance from the HSA or designated authority.• Develop, implement, and coordinate the facility's annual infection control plan and risk assessments with consideration of population served, regional vulnerabilities, and new infectious diseases.• Coordinate pre-employment testing, N95/TB/Influenza testing and/or vaccinations, and management of employee injuries, illnesses, and potential blood exposures, while adhering to relevant regulations and notifying appropriate departments.• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements through routine inspections, data analysis, and report preparation, and provide education to non-compliant areas.• Act as the facility expert on universal control, exposure control, and blood-borne pathogen techniques, and review and revise policies and procedures based on current literature, regulatory agencies, and data generated through surveillance.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
Experience
- 1- 3 year’s experience in nursing or infection prevention required, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Experience in psychiatric mental health setting is required, preferably with an additional two to three years of educator experience.
- Experience in development, implementation, evaluation, and coordination of programs/protocols, along with working knowledge of hospital asepsis, microbiology, epidemiology, and methods of operating required.
Licenses/Certifications
- Currently licensed as a RN in the state of employment or compact state
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification
- Current certification in Infection Prevention preferred or accomplishment within two years of date of employment
- CIC certification preferred
