The Dining Room Supervisor is responsible for meeting or exceeding all standards of quality, productivity, customer service to all residents, prospective residents and guests in all dining rooms at a WellQuest Living community. Evaluate, coordinate, train, motivate, monitor performance, schedule and supervise department staff in accordance with company policy and at the direction of the Culinary Services Director. Make recommendations to the Culinary Services Director with respect to staff evaluations, merit pay increases, reprimands, disciplinary actions and terminations. Reports to: Culinary Services Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • As directed by the Culinary Services Director, participate in the hiring, evaluation, training, coordination, motivation, monitoring of performance, scheduling and supervision of dining room staff in accordance with company policy. Make recommendations to the Culinary Services Director with respect to staff evaluations, merit pay increases, reprimands, disciplinary actions and terminations as requested.
  • Supervise service of meals to ensure maximum resident enjoyment of the dining experience and that the services are delivered to residents in a continuous, predictable and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring dining room POS system is operating efficiently, accurately and timely. Trouble-shoots any problems that arise. Train staff on use of system.
  • Assist residents and other servers in all areas of resident meal service (salads, soup, entrees, beverages, desserts etc.) as necessary.
  • Participate in formal and informal discussions to identify concerns and to confirm that recommended actions that reinforce each resident’s full potential to live independently and age in place graciously are being successful.
  • Work with Culinary Services Director to ensure implementation and maintenance of Dining By Design standards within the community.

Actively participate in resident orientation programs. Develop appropriate professional relationships with residents through conversation. Remain closely involved in resident transitions to the community during meal times to help ease anxiety and promote engagement.

  • Handle all resident concerns and complaints in a professional and caring manner.
  • Chart and assign dining room sections for wait staff, if needed.
  • Ensure proper set up of dining room tables with all utensils, chinaware, glassware and etc., if needed. Refill sugars, salt, pepper, creamers, and crackers, as needed.
  • As required, clean tables and chairs after meals, if needed. Sweep or vacuum floor areas after meals, if needed.
  • Remove tablecloths and napkins if needed.
  • Fill beverage machines and make coffee, juice, etc., if needed.
  • Return all dishes to the kitchen following meal service, if needed.
  • Report all equipment safety issues or concerns to Culinary Services Director.
  • Clean and supervise performance of all cleaning and other side work in dining room and kitchen areas. Establish and post side work assignments for all dining room personnel on all shifts.
  • Aid in community marketing effort through demonstrated proficiency and willingness to conduct community tours, participation in all required marketing events and through positive/friendly interaction with all potential residents, family members and referral sources.
  • Plan and prepare food items for activities, marketing and special events, as requested.
  • Display tact and friendliness when dealing with residents, families and visitors.
  • Communicate any observed or suspected resident change of condition to a supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents and guests, following established safety standards.
  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
  • Support a positive and professional image through actions and dress.
  • Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Culinary Services Director.

Ability and Experience requirements:

  • Must have the ability to interact with residents in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Must have previous experience as a server.
  • Must have a current basic First Aid Card.
  • Must obtain criminal background clearance.

Education:


Ability to read, write and speak English.

Manager’s Serv\Safe Credential


Experience:


Prior wait staff and supervisory experience.


Mathematical

Skills:


Ability to count.


Reasoning Skills:


Knows and understands community fire plan, disaster plan, and

safety procedures.


Oral/Written Communication Skills


Ability to follow written and oral directions.

Ability to interact tactfully with residents and family members,

staff and general public.

Employee must pass a criminal record clearance prior to beginning work in the community. Employee must possess current first aid training. Employee must be at least eighteen
