About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Analytics Consultant within Decision Sciences in FLM (Front Line Monitoring) supporting Consumer Small Business Banking and Home Lending. This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, controlling, and mitigating current and emerging risk including internal fraud, conduct risk, regulatory risk, reputational risk, and other risk activities within CSBB (Consumer Small Business Banking). Special focus will be on email and other text related monitoring for Consumer Banking and Consumer Lending.
We are in search of a highly motivated individual with excellent advanced analytics skills to build data driven capabilities to enable risk based monitoring and surveillance strategies.
This position will be responsible for building a strong analytical foundation using quantitative analytics to proactively identify risk trends across transactions, interactions, customers, team members, accounts, and products with a goal of optimizing and strengthening Consumer Small Business Banking's risk mitigation effort. This role will also work with a cross-functional team composed of subject matter experts within and outside FLM group to prioritize, validate, and address strategy implementation and performance tracking-related needs, and to provide support to aid in the delivery of monitoring and surveillance strategies for a safe and sound operating environment

In this role, you will:
- Act as a top subject matter expert to lead model development, data strategies, and analytical models with companywide impact, high risk, and with significant scope, cost, and benefits
- Identify, develop and implement advanced quantitative analysis and algorithms to increase proactive detection of risk patterns and trends by researching and exploring structured and unstructured data
- Learn and identify conceptual and quantitative solutions to meet the constraints of business requirements
- Improve risk monitoring and issue detection by enhancing traceability of banker and customer activities
- Leverage data, business knowledge, strategy and predictive models to inform and influence line of business strategic planning team in long term plan development
- Strengthen data resolution, process integration, usage testing, implementation and enhancement on Bank Supervision Platform
- Provide automated, user-friendly and data-driven solution for Community Banking Centralized Supervision and other business partners
- Work with large databases and process flow through complex logic or merging algorithm
- Use SQL, SAS or other statistical / BI tools to support data mining and analytics insights
- Write presentation deck and communicate results to internal and external customers
- Document and maintain metadata
- Lead the strategy and resolution of the most complex and significant challenges companywide, delivering highly complex, analytical, and modeling solutions that are long term, large scale, broad reaching

- 10 years of Analytics and Reporting, Financial Modeling, Statistics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5 years of working experience using SQL, SAS, and/or Python, preferably experience with text analytics.
- Experience in building, testing, automating, documenting and optimizing unstructured data like email data.
- Ability to work with large databases and process flow through complex logic or merging algorithm.
- Financial service industry experience preferably within fraud, risk or operation
- Working experience with Vantage,Aster or other big data processing platforms
- Experience successfully developing actionable data analytics and data strategies to inform, influence, and drive business outcomes
- Articulate and possess strong data analytic experience and have strong interpersonal effectiveness with the ability to translate complex analytics in to easily understood insights and summarizing or presenting to various levels of management.
- Experience providing 'credible challenge' to business partners, when necessary, with the ability to lead through influence in a matrix environment
- Experience leading a fast paced, demanding, and deadline driven environment
- Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management
- Experience creating and presenting effective, informative, and influential presentations to multiple levels of leaders and business partners
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Extensive experience with research and analysis
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience utilizing data to identify risk or fraud preferably within the financial services industry
