Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo's financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning and analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company's investment portfolios. They also inform shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines.

The CRE economist is responsible for researching, modeling and forecasting metrics representative of the Commercial Real Estate (CRE). The Economist will perform complex economic and statistical analysis and prepare reports and presentations for executives and senior level management.  Specifically, the Economist would be expected to construct econometric models for forecasting purposes and draw inferences about alternative economic conditions. The position resides in a team-oriented environment that requires extensive interaction with other economists and financial professionals. Though directly reporting to the Corporate Economist, the successful candidate will operate with considerable independence. • Perform complex economic and statistical analysis and communicate findings to executives and senior management. These may be routine or ad hoc, depending on circumstances. 

• Produce time series forecasts of metrics critical to financial planning and risk management and communicate those forecasts to non-technical audiences.

• Ensure compliance with all internal policies and regulatory requirements.

• Develop procedures, techniques and methods that increase production efficiency. Creativity is highly valued.



Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of economics experience demonstrated through work or military experience



Desired Qualifications

  • A Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline
  • Ability to present technical concepts to senior leaders
  • Ability to synthesize complex analytical findings into executive level communications
  • Knowledge and understanding of economic climate and related market developments
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Project management experience



Other Desired Qualifications

• 3 yrs time series forecasting 
• Ensure compliance with all internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Develop procedures, techniques and methods that increase production efficiency. Creativity is highly valued.
• Extensive experience utilizing analytical methods used in: statistical analysis, modeling, and forecasting
• Proficiency with statistical software (i.e. Eviews, RATS, R, etc.) 
• Extensive experience evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of third-party statistical models, document those findings, and make modifications as may be appropriate.
• Extensive experience ensuring compliance with all internal policies and regulatory requirements.
