About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Financial Crimes Director to join the Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) line of business. The Financial Crimes Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the FCRM Program, including Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Terrorist Financing, and Global Sanctions. As second line of defense, Financial Crimes Risk Management provides advice, oversight, and challenge to the first line for these programs.


In this role, you will:

  • Partner effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, compliance, risk, audit, regulators, and technology control functions to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices and Control programs including control committees, risk mitigation, key risk indicators, and control design.

  • Lead and partner with the business, legal, risk, compliance and other control partners on various issues ranging from self-identified issues to global regulatory enforcement actions.

  • Provide vision and set direction for multiple FCRM high impact initiatives to achieve long-term strategic objectives that impact management across functions.

  • Oversee engagement with key stakeholder commitments and obligations related to high priority initiatives.

  • Establish and direct execution of a risk based financial crimes program across the enterprise or businesses in a complex regulatory environment.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain an awareness of the state of financial crimes activity and risk companywide, and significant businesses, and provide excellent subject matter knowledge.

  • Develop and implement strategic solutions to highly complex and potentially companywide business challenges.

  • Ensure programs and policies are designed to identify, assess, measure, and monitor significant risks proactively and systematically.

  • Provide leadership and oversight to financial crimes and risk management programs.

  • Consult with and influence all levels of professionals, including peers and senior leaders.

  • Effectively balance regulatory commitments with risk program simplification

  • Foster an environment that ensures strong communication and cooperation across the three lines of defense.

  • Collaborate with peers and leaders to develop highly complex, multi-year projects, strategies, goals and business ventures.

  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.


Required Qualifications:

  • 8 years of Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Fraud, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery, Corruption experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

  • 4 years of Management experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in Financial Crimes Risk Management including regulatory expectations, controls, new product/business initiatives.

  • Deep understanding of the ever-evolving governance and regulatory environments as well as industry and risk-related best practices.

  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders and constituencies, including business leaders, legal, audit and multiple U.S. and non-U.S. regulators.

  • Understand the firm’s products, services, customers, entities, and geographic locations, and the potential money laundering and terrorist financing risks associated with those activities.

  • Organizational courage and willingness to make tough, informed decisions and thoughtfully share independent perspectives.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with an ability to translate ambiguous ideas/issues into well-defined plans/solutions with a track record for delivering results.

  • Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, able to ask well-crafted questions and present ideas in a clear and compelling manner, good listener who engenders creative thinking and teamwork.

  • An ability to develop and articulate sound proposals to key stakeholders, and an ability to influence and drive timely decision making.

  • Proven experience establishing a large-scale vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership areas through effective communication and successful delivery against goals and objectives.

  • Experience driving large-scale organizational change.

  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams, ensuring proper staffing and expertise, and manage the establishment of major policies and relevant compliance programs across major business divisions within a large and complex organization.

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$173,300.00 - $359,900.00
