Every day, more architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and owners specify Wells precast building components for their construction needs and with this continued success, we are looking to hire a motivated self-starting Sealants Senior Estimator to join our team. The right candidate must be a problem-solver, have strong communication skills, and also be willing and ready to learn.
General Description: The Senior Estimator is responsible for the overall pricing and bidding of projects within the sealants and restoration division. This person is responsible for project leads, budgeting, estimates in and outside of Wells and reports directly to the Director of Sales/Estimating.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read & interpret plans and specifications.
- Understand market pricing for sealants, waterproofing, air barrier, restoration, fire stopping, and other scopes of work.
- Generate project leads through industry relationships.
- Utilize tools for project leads such as Builders’ Exchanges, Construct Connect, etc.
- Develop processes and flow of the estimation process.
- Train, lead, and develop a team of estimators.
- Perform takeoffs for projects in sealants, waterproofing, air barrier, restoration, and fire stopping, and other scopes of work.
- Develop tracking mechanisms for project cost estimates to use for historical costs.
- Analysis of job costs on projects to establish production rates in estimates.
- Estimate necessary construction equipment & materials to complete the project.
- Establish scope of work and sequence for each job necessary for proper pricing.
- Assist in building scopes of work outside of Wells jobs, including waterproofing/firestopping.
- Visit existing Wells jobs/clients for building restoration/re-caulk needs.
- Build relationships with architects, contractors, and materials suppliers.
- Develop expertise in new scope areas of the Sealants and Restoration Group
- Complete special projects as requested and performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must have interpersonal communication skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Large and complex project experience preferred.
- Must always carry in a professional manner.
- Must be able to lead a team with respect and dignity.
- Ability to work with others to get tasks completed efficiently.
- Must be motivated and self-driven to complete a task.
- Knowledge of means/methods used in sealants and waterproofing.
- Understand and accepts changes that are implemented to become Best-in-Class.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment.
- Visual acuity and ability to read small print.
- Hearing acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to lift and move office supplies and equipment.
- Mobility and ability to move around the office as needed.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Minimal risk of exposure to unusual elements.
- Minimal risk of safety precautions.
- General Office Environment
- Intermittent field / jobsite visits will require safety precautions, which may coincide with exposure to harsh weather.
