Job Skills / RequirementsWellspring has an immediate opening for an Adult Peer Support Specialist in a Housing First program with homeless clients diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders. A high school degree or equivalent is required. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing peer support. Candidates must be willing to share their personal experience of recovery and support others in need. Applicants for Peer Support Specialist positions must go through the Kentucky Peer Specialist training and be certified by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Participating with the other members of the treatment team, the Wellspring Peer Support Specialist's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting clients find and keep housing and maintain the integrity and security of their living quarters, remaining informed regarding the client's mental and physical status, and assisting with life skills, supportive counseling, and crisis intervention consistent with the client's and the program's goals and objectives. Individuals seeking this position must have the KY State Peer Support Specialist certification or be eligible and willing to complete this training program.
