Position Summary: Provides quality patient care to critically ill and/or injured patients in the transport environment via helicopter, fixed-wing, and ground environment. Collaborates and coordinates patient care with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers both internally and externally. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, identifies and completes continuing education, and trains others. Provides essential services in ensuring the safe on-ground and in-flight transfer of acutely ill patients from one health care facility to another or from the scene to AUMC. Provides Interfacility transport of sick adults, infants, and children and there is an added responsibility of being a community liaison between AU Health and referral hospitals.
Position Requirements: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Vocational or technical training or degree in EMT-P. 3 years or more of ED or EMS experience in a busy EMS system with at least 6 months of recent experience OR 1.5 years or more of flight paramedic experience in a high-volume program with at least 6 months of recent experience. Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP). Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS). ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, (Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 6 months of hire), (FP-C or CCEMTP within 18 months of hire). Current Licensed Paramedic Georgia and South Carolina
Preferred Requirements: Associate's Degree in Healthcare related field. 3-5 years of critical care transport experience with at least 18 months of recent flight experience. PALS/ACLS /TNCC instructorship. Current FP-C or CCEMTP.
