Job Summary:
The Community Benefit Intern Position reports directly to the Community Health Manager or Program Administrator. Key responsibilities of the role include:
• Supporting the assessment and analysis of community health and partner information for program development.
• Assisting in the development of public health programs.
• Assisting in communicating data and information to various stakeholders.
• Examining the influence of policies and programs on diverse populations.
• Maintaining community partnerships.
• Applying scientific strategies to the promotion of public health programs.
• Identifying program funding opportunities.
• Observing the role of leadership in program operations.
• Supporting office operations as needed.
The Community Benefit Intern will perform duties critical to advancing knowledge and awareness of public health programs throughout Wellstar Health System
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Assist Sponsoring Managers and their teams with the following: Assist in research and analysis of operational request Assist in project execution as assigned Assist in additional duties as assigned Assist with supporting end users as required by sponsoring manager Participate in all phases of the soft-skill internship program to include:
- Attend weekly meetings with other interns in the program and participate in the soft skills training as described below:
- Communication - development of public speaking and speaking styles, engaging conversations with team members, and creating presentations. Students must create a presentation to showcase their speaking and PowerPoint skills.
- Time Management - development of concepts and personal practices of managing time professionally and personally. Weekly video and article assignments or discussed.
- Productivity - development of concepts and personal practices in understand how one can be productive and practicing their capacities. Weekly video and article assignments are discussed.
- Enthusiasm - understand of positive mental and physical emotion at work. Discussing big picture concepts and practicing ways to enhance and more positive work style. Weekly video and articles are discussed.
- Emotional Intelligence - General understanding of emotions and connections at work. This concept helps with relationship skills with direct reports and challenges students to speak about their overall mental and physical health. Weekly video and articles are discussed

Required Minimum Experience:
Required Minimum Education: Student in the final two years of an undergraduate or graduate degree program related to health care or public health. Preferred majors include: public health, health administration, health care management, health science(s), or health promotion.
Required Minimum Skills:
Required Minimum Skills: This internship requires professionalism, strong written and verbal communication skills, detail orientation, critical thinking, follow-through, and interpersonal skills. Candidates and selected appointees must demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, and adjust to frequently changing priorities. Must have computer/data entry experience and demonstrate the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word. Expected to commit to the position for at least 4 months.
