Job Summary:
Transport, unload and deliver products and materials to customers through the tri-state area. Drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways. Inspects trucks for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition. Maintain driver log according to D.O.T. regulations. Unload truck at multiple stops, including some overnight deliveries to stores/restaurants, and other designated locations. Provide courteous, prompt and professional customer service.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform daily pre-trip vehicle inspections of truck, tractor and trailer before operating vehicle.
- Adhere to all federal, state and local traffic laws while driving.
- Adhere to all Ferraro Foods and D.O.T. mandated policies to ensure compliance of both D.O.T. and Ferraro Foods programs and expectations.
- Select and repeatedly lift products weighing up to sixty (60) pounds from hand- stacked products and/or shrink wrapped pallets from three compartment trailer to deliver to stores/restaurants.
- Deliver products through use of two-wheel cart and/or tailgate method, products into customer’s stores/restaurant and stage according to product temperature requirements, all frozen products in the freezer; refrigerated products in the cooler and dry products in their designated areas.
- Provide courteous, prompt and professional customer service to each location on route, and while operating vehicle.
- Retrieve restaurant manager’s or owners signature of receipt of invoice at the manager’s or owner’s convenience. When no one is present, driver notes that delivery was done by key drop before or after hours (when authorized).
- Maintain accurate DOT logs.
- Responsible for vehicle safety and contents
- Deliver’s manufactured goods and or materials to customer locations
- Responsible for making sure vehicle is loaded properly.
- Responsible for vehicle maintenance, security and keeping vehicle clean.
- Ensure that truck has proper and current inspections
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be D.O.T. qualified, knowledgeable and be able to pass physical and substance abuse tests.
- Must possess a Class B valid driver’s license and valid DOT Medical Card
- Must possess a good driving record.
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to sixty (60) pounds in order to unload truck at multiple locations.
- One year verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills in order to maintain accurate records of deliveries.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
- Driving for extended period of time.
- Position requires frequent standing, lifting, bending and moving of heavy (sixty pounds ) weight material in difficult work positions.
- May include overnight deliveries.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures and seasonal climate conditions due to exposure, external of tractor-trailer.
