This person is responsible for managing daily activities of a Distribution Center. Manages all operational processes including safety, productivity, housekeeping and accuracy of all employees. Responsible for inventory accuracy, inventory variances and expense controls. Ensures that orders are dispatched on time to the appropriate destinations and in the expected quantities. May be responsible for evaluating freight services, negotiating contracts, and managing relationships with chosen vendors. Complies with and enforces operational, audit, safety and all other company policies. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and are within approved budgets. Has input on personnel actions including hiring and firing. Expert level knowledge of department processes.
- Maintains distribution center working environment, focused on clean, organized and safe workplace.
- Manages teams responsible for daily shipping, receiving, quality control and general warehousing activities.
- Participates in hiring process and management of distribution center staff.
- Manages facility manning to ensure excellent customer service levels while achieving worker efficiency metrics.
- Analyzes facility metrics and sets in place procedures and process changes to ensure facility efficiencies.
- Provides LEAN leadership for distribution center team focused on process improvements.
- Coordinates facility transportation requirements, including scheduling incoming carriers, and outgoing transportation.
- Manages facility purchases striving to lower overall cost of consumables.
- Tracks and monitors order volume statistics and determines staffing levels to meet those volumes.
- Develops performance standards to ensure high level of customer satisfaction (e.g. orders handled per hour, stock outs, ship time turnaround).
- Sets and manages performance standards for employees and supervisors.
- Develops meaningful metrics to drive safety, quality, delivery and productivity.
- Ensures timely processing of customer and branch returns.
- Provides overall direction and support for facilities, administration, customer service, audit support and compliance.
Experience:
- 2 years required, 3 years preferred of staff supervision and training.
- 2 years required, 5 years preferred of distribution center operations experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to explain, and in selected areas, teach appropriate policies, procedures, and associated practices.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Demonstrate teamwork, leadership, and flexibility.

Salary : $55,300 - $70,000
