What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead, Med Tech position at Wesley?
The Med Tech Lead is peer resource and mentor for orientation and new hires in Memory Care / Assisted Living licensed CNA and Med Techs. Under direction of designated leader, coordinate Scheduling and time card review. Provides on the floor coverage as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Acts as a lead trainer/mentor for staff. Trains new hires in proper care for residents by monitoring health status, feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, assisting with mobility, and serving meals and snacks.
- Acts as on call staff and fills in shifts when requested. Rotates onto various shifts to observe and reinforce care standards.
- Leads, establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with residents, families, and co-workers.
- Trains new hires and orients effective process to document and record resident observations and health-related information in electronic systems.
- Communicate resident observations and health-related information to other members of the care team including coworkers, supervisors, third-party providers, and families.
- Performs all function of Med Tech role including provide medication assistance.
- Ensures all medications ordered, ensures all doctor orders have been transcribed correctly.
- Assists supervisor in purchasing of supplies, shift scheduling and review of time keeping.
- Learn and apply Company, Federal, State, and local rules, regulations, and policies.
Education Background
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
- Active Nursing Assistant certification in in Washington State.
- Nurse Delegation or Medication Assistance Certification upon hire.
- CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Washington State Food Worker Card within 14 days of hire.
- Mental Health Certificate within 120 days of hire.
- Dementia Certificate within 120 days of hire.
- One to 2 years proven experience leading others.
Special Training/Skills
- Effective oral, written and verbal communication skills with ability to read and write in English.
- MS Office suite (word, excel, email)
- Displays a personable/comforting personality to care for the residents and to train new hires.
- Exhibits mentor behavior style showing patience with those learning a new role.
Physical Demands
- Ability to give direct patient care, including participating in lifting, transferring, positioning, and assistance of resident with walking or in wheelchairs.
- Able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Ability to work and function in high congested areas.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard or touch screen to document resident records.
