We are currently looking for a CNA / Hospitality Aide to work within our Assisting Living Community at The Wesleyan. As a CNA / Hospitality Aide at The Wesleyan, you will be an integral part of a mission and values-based organization that provides endless opportunities for career growth.
We are currently hiring for the following full-time shift schedules :
6 : 00PM - 6 : 00AM
Essential Job Functions
- Perform all Nursing Aide procedures as directed in accordance with job description and instructions from Charge Nurse.
- Follow written and oral directions.
- Follow resident rights policies at all times.
- Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
- Conduct resident rounds as assigned with oncoming or outgoing shift.
- Be responsible for residents under supervision.
- Identify resident problems and report them immediately to a licensed nurse. and report changes in resident condition to charge nurse or nurse supervisor.
- Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately within the shift.
- Deliver direct care to residents, providing rehabilitative care when directed and necessary and render care in accordance with the Nursing Care Plan.
- Check residents every 2 hours for toileting or incontinent care.
- Strip bed, change linens and make beds on shower days and as needed.
- Perform light housekeeping chores in order to keep the residents' room and unit within the standards of neatness and cleanliness required by organizational standards and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure residents are given adequate assistance with meals, nourishment and transportation to meal service area.
- Supervise and assist residents with prescribed meals as needed and feed residents who cannot feed themselves.
- Must be able to deal with possible agitated and confused residents that at times can become physically aggressive.
- Encourage and motivate resident to participate in recreational, occupational, and physical therapy to promote activity of mind and body and other activities of daily living.
- Record accurately and timely, the care provided to the resident.
- Must be able to deal in a professional manner with coworkers, residents, resident family members, visitors, etc.
- Listen to resident and family complaints and report to charge nurse.
- Identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action.
- Observe infection control procedures relating to nursing.
- Observe building policies and protocols.
- Consistently work cooperatively with residents, nurses, other nursing assistants, physicians, nurse practitioners, families, administration, consultant personnel and ancillary service providers.
- Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.
- Other duties as directed by the Wellness Director and / or building Administrator.
Qualifications & Experience :
- Must possess current, active Nurse Aide Certificate from Texas Department of Health and must keep Certificate current.
- Must be in good physical and mental condition and willing to work with the aged population.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm and be able to handle residents based on whatever maturity, cognitive and medical / physical level they are currently functioning.
- Must have the ability to work despite frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to read and write English with clarity sufficient to communicate with residents and teammates, follow instructions, identify materials from their labels, and understand their directions for use.
- Must be able to take directions and supervision, follow directions and to work on a team providing care and general functions of a nursing unit.
- Experience working as a caregiver in a memory care community is preferred.
- Must have a service-minded approach to all aspects of the job.
- A passion for working within a senior living community and within an assisted living and memory care community is essential.
