Software Development Project Manager

ROLE

We need a Software Development Project Manager to lead and manage a 12+ person team comprising business analysts and software developers. You’ll build Appian software solutions using various COTS products such as but not limited to Appian, Scala, Apache Spark, Java, Python, AWS, and various database management systems such as Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and manage all aspects of the software development lifecycle
• Lead and manage a 12+ person team comprising business analysts and software developers 
• Oversee projects ranging from small ones to significant builds that are large and complex
• Propose innovative solutions
• Advise and assist on emerging technologies, methodologies best practices, lessons learned, etc.
• Assess and address technical, functional, operational, and programmatic problems and challenges
• Anticipate, identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues 
• Propose and prepare short to long-range strategies, plans, and schedules 
• Advise and assist on strategic planning
• Propose and prepare plans to select applications, develop systems, maintain systems, etc.
• Organize, allocate, and manage resources
• Manage cost, schedule, and scope

EXPERIENCE

• Progressive hands-on software management experience

EDUCATION

• MBA or master’s degree in technical field such as computer science, engineering, or related field
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field

CERTIFICATIONS

• PMP – Project Management Professional
• ACP – Agile Certified Practitioner
• CSM – Certified Scrum Master

Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
