School Social Worker

West End Public Schools RE-2 in Nucla, CO is seeking a School Social Worker. The position is intended to provide social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health services to the entire school community to include students, staff, and families.

Job Requirements:

Applicants must have a master’s degree in Social Work and be licensed as a Social Worker through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.

Contract Date: August 12, 2024-May 23, 2025

Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000

Job Description:

Student Services

● Provide crisis intervention.

● Provide social, emotional, behavioral and mental health services and interventions to students and families to include individual and group counseling.

● Develop intervention strategies to increase academic success.

● Assist with conflict resolution and anger management.

● Help students learn skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Family Services

● Build relationships with families to help engage them in the school community.

● Assist families in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.

● Provide education and support to families regarding individual student needs.

Staff Services

● Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s performance and behavior.

● Develop staff in-service training programs.

● Assist teachers with behavior management.

● Provide direct support to staff.

School-Community Liaison Services

● Serve as a link between home, school, and community.

● Obtain and coordinate community resources to meet students' needs.

● Help school districts receive adequate support from social and mental health agencies.

● Advocate for new and improved community/school services to meet the needs of students and families.

● Participate in ISST, IOG, and other multidisciplinary groups as a representative of the school.

District Services:

● Assist in developing and implementing Tier 1 social emotional learning for students

● Provide consultation regarding school law and school policy including IDEA and Section 504.

● Provide case management for students and families requiring multiple resources.

● Serve as a McKinney-Vento Liaison for students experiencing unstable housing.

● Identify when students have needs that go beyond the scope of school intervention and facilitate referrals and access to services.

● Assist with school-wide crisis preparedness, response, and recovery
