Job Posting for Maintenance Planner at West Fraser, Inc
Primary responsibility is to develop and manage the CMMS, plan & schedule work, kitting parts. Responsibilities generally start in the sawmill but should evolve to be a site-wide resource per site requirements.
Mill Production and Quality Priorities:
Attend regular meetings and take direction from Maintenance Superintendent regarding planning for short and medium term maintenance priorities
CMMS:
Manage CMMS system to WF standards:
Develop job plans to include; safety steps, PPE required, manpower, parts, tools, estimated hours, best practices, specifications
Maintenance documentation must be in a place where it can be found, not in ad-hoc storage devices
Update routes / job plans based non feedback from the trades personnel
Maintain equipment history in CMMS
Communicate with maintenance personnel about repetitive problems
Responsible for recording history in the CMMS
Reliability:
Interface with reliability personnel to make sure all reliability routes / standards / tolerances are current
Scheduling:
Prepare future work, 3-14 days out
Work to have maintenance team members fully scheduled over 75% of work hours
Have 80-90% of all work Ready to Schedule one week out and at least 50% of the second week ready
Work with leadership to understand jobs and coordinate to completion
Interact with vendors and outside contractors for maintenance or repair services as needed
Stores / Kitting Parts:
Identify parts and materials needed for the jobs
Work with stores for kitting of jobs
Order non-stock parts for work orders for JIT completion
Downtime:
Review all downtime reports daily and participate in RCFA team activities to identify and implement solutions to failures
KPIs:
Run planning and CMMS reports and distribute weekly according to KPI’s
Core Skills and Competencies:
Safety leader.
Trades certification is a benefit but not mandatory.
Minimally requires working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and reliability fundamentals.
Trades training is definable by mill but planner should be exposed to all on-site vendor seminars like lubrication, fasteners, hydraulics, PLC, controls, etc.
Could also include Noria MLT1, Vibration Level 1, etc. but this is individual and mill-specific.
Proficient on CMMS, Oracle and MS Word / Excel.
Self-starter with high standards.
Ability to work within a team environment to further plant goals.
Excellent communication skills.
Critical to the Success of the Planner
Planning personnel in the mill should work side-by-side with the mechanical, electrical trades and reliability trades.
Work with the trades group as they develop and optimize PMs, PdM, CMs, etc.; their buy-in will make or break this position
Firing out paperwork from a distant office will not work well
Be a doer not a delegator

2 year(s): Preferred 2 years experience as Planner, but will accept Millwright experience in lieu.
