What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kiln Supervisor position at West Fraser?

The Kiln Supervisor will be responsible for all functions at the Kiln and Boiler department including safe work practices and procedures, stacking/loading/drying quality, drying practices and kiln schedules, operator scheduling, and coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive system inspection to identify areas of concern and opportunity
- Work with operations to complete detailed safe work procedures
- Ensure appropriate records are maintained for the Kiln and boiler
- Daily quality audits
- Feedback and communication with stacker department
- Yard inspections
- Work practice audits and standardization
- Quality testing
- Interface with leadership and kiln operators
- Maintenance assignments and planning
- Preventative maintenance checks and routines
Requirements you will need:
- At least 1-2 years of Kiln and Boiler management experience
- High school diploma
- Mechanical aptitude & experience troubleshooting
- Excellent team-building and motivational skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Experience and Skill that will make you stand out:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Electrical Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or similar preferred.
- Sawmill or other wood products industry experience.
