What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operating Apprentice 1 position at West Fraser?
What you will do:
- Operate all equipment associated with job functions
- Perform breakouts or relief for forklift operators
- Assist in Lumber Yard and CDK cleanup/repair efforts
- Assist CDK staff with all aspects of the kiln operations, including lube, setting cars, preventive maintenance, etc.
- Assist in lumber inventory storage and rotation
- Assist in monitoring and reacting to all emergency alarms, fire, etc.
- Must be available to work any shift, as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift green 16 ft boards
- Ability to access and work in high levels
- Ability to follow directions and learn all required duties
- Average or above mechanical skills
- Must be available to work any shift, as needed
- Must be able to work unsupervised
- Good communication skills
- Good attendance and safety record
- Must pass West Fraser approved Forklift/Front End Loader Operator Coarse
- Experience working in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment
