Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the timely purchase of all indirect materials, commodities, supplies, equipment, and services (including stores and non-stores inventories) for all site-specific internal requestors. This position utilizes organizational abilities, a customer service mindset and attention to detail to promote excellence as established in the Company vision, mission, and values.

These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Storeroom inventory replenishment: Verifying approved purchase requisition line demands against stores inventories, thereby ensuring appropriate mill inventory levels are adhered to.
• Direct communication with maintenance Planner(s) on purchase order delivery statuses which involves expediting materials to meet work order material requirements dates from the requester and managing back orders.
• Create RFQs (request for quote) based on incoming demands and Award bids which involve entering information into CMMS daily.
• In compliance with Norbord’s Purchasing Policies and Procedures, manage the mill’s RFQ, purchase order, and receiving processes which involve the handling of any variances to orders.

• Negotiate site-specific purchasing and service agreements and communicate details to corporate purchasing. Assist in researching equipment, parts, and materials to support the operation.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives related to the mill’s inventory control and purchasing operations: identify opportunities to workflows/processes, vendor rationalization, and inventory level optimization.
• Audit vendor performance as per corporate purchasing agreements reviewing such issues as late deliveries, incorrect shipments, damaged defective goods, etc.
• Ongoing review and change management of inventory lead times, min & max levels, and any other replenishment-related master data in CMMS.

• Perform all requirements of the online imaging system for invoice and receipt reconciliation process and identify price discrepancies from receipt to invoice on a bi-weekly basis.
• Receive information from requesters for new vendor set up which involves gathering information from suppliers and submitting it to Corporate as required.
• Serve as the central point of contact for accounting and suppliers regarding invoice/purchase order discrepancies.
• Conduct annual supplier evaluations reviewing such issues as late deliveries, incorrect shipments, damaged defective goods, etc. Participating in annual Corporate Vendor Performance Reviews as required.

• Manage all purchasing details of lease/rental agreements for equipment used on site
• Lead by example.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager.

Minimum Qualifications you will need:

Eligible to legally work in the United States

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience (Supply Chain or Operations degree preferred)
• 5 to 10 years of inventory control and/or purchasing experience
• Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
• Managerial/Supervisory experience (Preferably in purchasing)
• Thorough knowledge of purchasing concepts and application
• Strong computer skills including MS Office software

Travel:

<10% expected to travel for training or meetings. Must be able to travel via car and air when required.
