Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST) a dynamic medium-sized consulting firm with offices across the United States and Canada. We are looking for a full time Human Resources (HR) / Health and Safety (H&S) Assistant in our Cheyenne, WY office. Since 1990, WEST has grown to be one of the premier environmental and statistical consulting firms in the United States. WEST has a permanent core of professionals with broad experience in basic and applied ecological studies and the sophisticated analysis of natural resource data.

WEST, Inc. is a federal contractor and is required under Executive Order 14042 to mandate vaccinations for employment. Effective immediately, all prospective hires will be required to provide documentation that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to their start date. Per the order, employees may also request a Medical or Religious exemption from the vaccine requirement and the request must be supported by a doctor for a medical exemption or by a statement from the employee for a sincerely held belief for a religious exemption.

Job Duties:
The HR / H&S Assistant is responsible for providing support for various HR and H&S programs within the organization. This position will be 35-40 hours a week with the possibility of going full-time.

  • Assist in the hiring process by coordinating job postings where required, sort and disseminate resumes to the appropriate hiring managers, and assists in phone interviews and reference checks
  • Assist in orientation of new hires and onboarding tasks
  • Assist the Health and Safety Department
    • Assist with Covid-19 tracking
    • Assist with answering emails for document requests
    • Assist with H&S monthly newsletter and COVID update emails
  • Maintain full confidentiality in all HR and Health & Safety related duties and activities
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all WEST employees
  • Provide back-up and assistance to the HR and Health and Safety employees as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Requirements:
The successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • Basic level understanding of human resources principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and listening skills
  • Attention to details in all transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness
  • Ability to learn and facilitate various human resources processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft Office programs as well as current HRIS and ATS systems
  • Ability to perform data entry
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and make independent decisions
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment
  • High level of organization, personal effectiveness and credibility
  • Excellent customer service and employee focus
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment


After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre- employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver’s license will be required.
