Job Description Summary:
Responsible for providing training and technical assistance to childcare to providers in the 11 counties of the southwest district as well as 6 zip codes in Shelby County. Due to the nature of the childcare industry, many of the training sessions or technical assistance visits might be offered after normal office hours and/or on Saturdays. Under the general supervision of the Kiwanis Child Care Resource and Referral Coordinator. Normal working hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This position will require much flexibility during the evening hours due to the nature of the child care business. This position will allow flexibility in scheduling when the extensive evening and weekend hours are necessary. Employee is subject to call back as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate continuing education training opportunities for childcare providers in the southwest region of Tennessee by either conducting the sessions or contracting with another individual or agency to provide the training. Collaboration with Early Childhood Professional Organizations to coordinate continuing education opportunities. Assures that opportunities for training are provided in the areas of Administration, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Health and Safety, and Developmentally Appropriate Behavior Management as assigned by the CCRR Coordinator.
- Provide quarterly visits to assigned clients in the service area to provide technical assistance services or targeted technical assistance services.
- During the quarterly visits, supply lending library resources to assigned providers outside of Madison County, Other resource material and handouts should be distributed during the visits.
- Submit data collected weekly for entry into the data collection system.
- Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education,
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
- Must have a valid Tennessee Drivers License and a dependable personal vehicle, Mileage for the vehicle related to performing job responsibilities will be reimbursed at the rate allowed by West Tennessee Healthcare.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two to three years of experience working in the childcare setting is preferred. Experience in conducting training sessions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Competent interpersonal skills, the ability to organize and manage time independently and flexibility to allow for working with childcare provider’s schedules is required.
