PROGRAM MANAGER
Position Description
As a Program Manager with the West Virginia Office of Energy, you will be the main organizer and facilitator for State-wide programs on the day-to-day level, helping teams reach ambitious project targets with the help of proactive project management, collaborative communication, flexible problem solving, and outstanding customer service.
Essential Duties
● Provide primary support to the project’s implementation team with project management activities: creating schedules, monitoring progress, tracking costs against plans, and managing budgets.
● Respond to all inquiries regarding project status.
● Prepare and respond to all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mandates, meeting and exceeding required ethical standards of professional conduct.
● Proactively initiate discussions with internal/external constituents to avoid risks, ensure timeliness and accuracy of scheduled deliverables. Resolve day-to-day issues. Take initiative to alert the project team to any potential challenges and risks.
● Collaborate with team members in the Office of Energy to share knowledge, solve problems, and improve project performance and outcomes.
● Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
● Experience in planning and prioritizing multiple and competing tasks/projects effectively,
meeting deadlines, and working independently and/or with a team in a fast-paced environment.
● Demonstrated ability to focus on details, documentation, data interpretation, report generation, and follow-through.
● Demonstrated proficiency with different platforms and applications (e.g. GoogleDrive, Microsoft Office, etc.).
Desired Qualifications
● Previously managed projects in the energy sector
● Strong knowledge of project management principles, change management practices, and techniques needed for large, complex projects.
● Experience managing or contributing to multimillion dollar grants/programs/projects
● Demonstrated ability to analyze problems holistically, thinking through implications, impacts, and potential risks of proposed solutions.
Desired Education
● Bachelor’s degree in Energy, Public Policy, Business, Communications, or related field preferred
● 1-2 years of prior experience in program management preferred
PLEASE NOTE: This is a grant-funded, multi-year contract position, and is contingent on continued availability of federal funding.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
