TITLE: Teacher- Secondary Second Chance Classroom
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal
SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.
SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must meet all qualifications of a secondary school teacher for grades 5-12
Demonstrate a knowledge of and an ability to successfully implement secondary educational curricular programs
Possess skills to implement Responsible Students Program, 504s, Individualized Education Programs (IEP), Behavior Plans
Possess specialized training in social skills interventions
Possess knowledge of benchmarks, informative assessments, and formative assessments for improving learning
Possess skills to perform other duties including but not limited to school discipline, working with WVEIS, improving achievement test scores and attendance rate
Demonstrate experience in working with at-risk youth
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Perform all the functions and duties outlined in the Secondary School Teacher job description
Supervise students placed in SCC setting
Provide instruction and review to students in the SCC setting
Provide smoke cessation instruction and/or resources in the SCC setting as applicable
Provide character education lessons to SCC students
Maintain a firm, managed environment and work to develop mutual respect with students
Resolve behavioral issues and work to reduce discipline incidents
Assist with academic issues and remediation in any subject area
Work with teachers and review students’ daily schedules and assignment to be completed
Grade (as applicable and requested) work of students in the SCC setting
Assist with data collection/benchmarking of identified students as referred by SAT team
Work as liaison between students and school counselors to assist with student needs
Demonstrate ability to manage effectively a comprehensive program of student behavior
Demonstrate capability to review current trends and research and apply to the learning setting
Provide examples of knowledge and/or experience in observing and reviewing students’ performance in instruction and classroom management
Provide to the immediate supervisor examples of knowledge and/or experience in assessing the needs of a SCC setting, evaluating the effectiveness of practice, developing improvement strategies, and setting goals for individual students and the program
Demonstrate how an effective working relationship among administration, teachers, and parents leads to improved learning and attendance
Assume responsibility for attendance, conduct and health of students while in the SCC setting
Assist in the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students as well as other record keeping functions as the principal may direct
Conduct one’s self in a positive professional manner at all times in order to enhance good public relations, foster loyalty, good ethics and cooperation with all students, parents, and colleagues
Create a climate conducive to teaching and learning in SCC setting
Assist in implementing a system to monitor student progress
Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the superintendent or immediate supervisor may from time to time, assign.
