Employee will be assigned to the Division of Land Restoration, Office of Abandoned Mine Lands and Reclamation (AML&R) Construction Group in the Bridgeport regional office. Employee will report directly to the Environmental Resources Specialist 3 (maintenance coordinator), performing beginning level duties under direct supervision providing a wide variety of complex work in the assigned area. Will monitor and conduct field investigations of maintenance work on AML Reclamation projects being accomplished by contractors. Will be responsible for reviewing plans and as-builts to review required maintenance activities.
Employee will collect and review technical/scientific data related to environmental/natural resource quality and assist in preparing the detailed findings. This includes collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data in the area of assignment. Employee will take photographs of all the reclamation/maintenance sites assigned to them, and prepare a field verification form for each work directive that is completed. Employee will be responsible for overseeing construction activities on AML Reclamation sites when needed and assist in water treatment efforts on reclamation sites that have active/passive treatment systems. Employee will perform other related duties as required.
Employee should have skill in drawing final value conclusions and in justifying and documenting conclusions for negotiating purposes; have the ability to prepare, review and evaluate comprehensive detailed reports of field work; have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals both orally and in writing; and have the ability to read and comprehend detailed plans and specifications for the reclamation sites.
Note: The recommended candidate will be subject to a search of his or her Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) prior to being hired and annually thereafter or as needed.
Note: Regular attendance is an essential part of this position.
Note: Employees involved with specific DEP programs subject to the surface mining control and reclamation act (SMCRA) of 1977 must file prior to final appointment and annually thereafter, a statement of employment and financial interest (OSM23).

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
Substitution: Full-time or equivalent part-time paid technical or paraprofessional experience in the acquisition, preservation, protection and enhancement of environmental/natural resources may be substituted for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of training.
Promotional Only: Two (2) years as an Environmental Resources Associate may substitute for the required training.
Note: At the appointing agency’s discretion, competitive candidates may receive probationary appointment pending official verification of the qualifying training or certification. The qualifying training or certification must be verified before the employee may be certified permanent.
