About the Opportunity:

The manager of the E-Commerce Program will lead and oversee the University's E-Commerce Program and related merchant services for West Virginia University. The manager of the E-Commerce Program will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our e-commerce initiatives while ensuring compliance with National Automated Clearinghouse Association (NACHA) and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) regulations.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce strategy aligned with the university's goals and values.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding the e-commerce program, including exploring new product offerings, markets, and partnerships.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance the university's e-commerce capabilities.
  • Oversee supplier relationships for e-commerce and point-of-sale solutions, including negotiating terms, managing contracts, and maintaining effective communication with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless merchant onboarding and offboarding process.
  • Monitor transaction trends, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to optimize payment processes and improve revenue streams.
  • Build and maintain a relationship with the West Virginia State Treasurer's Office and the state's payment services supplier in support of the university's merchants and e-commerce program.
  • In collaboration with Information Security, lead NACHA and PCI compliance efforts across all e-commerce and point-of-sale operations to ensure adherence to NACHA and PCI DSS standards.
  • Collaborate with Information Security to develop policies to safeguard sensitive payment information and implement processes, procedures, and controls to operationalize the policies.
  • Coordinate regular NACHA and PCI assessments, vulnerability scans, and audits to maintain compliance and address potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Work closely with IT teams to ensure secure and reliable e-commerce and point-of-sale infrastructure, including payment gateways, point-of-sale systems, databases, and authentication systems.
  • Collaborate with marketing, finance, legal, Shared Services, and aspiring and current merchants to align e-commerce and point-of-sale initiatives with broader university objectives.
  • Foster relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry experts to stay informed about best practices and innovations.
  • Manage a team of e-commerce professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Facilitate professional growth opportunities for team members through training, workshops, and skill development initiatives.
  • Create a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages creativity and excellence.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience in a relevant field
  • A minimum of six (6) years of combined experience in the following:
    • Practical, on-the-job experience in information technology. This experience should include communicating technical information to a non-technical audience. Strong preference for individuals with experience in a higher education setting supporting faculty, staff, and students.
    • Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand the requirements and objectives of E-Commerce applications and turning customer feedback into actionable requirements.
    • Designing end-to-end solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements, considering integration, scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
    • Experience implementing and maintaining compliance in a complex environment. In-depth knowledge of NACHA and PCI DSS compliance requirements is advantageous.
    • Proven experience designing and implementing solutions for enterprise-scale applications.
    • Experience developing processes, procedures, and controls to safeguard sensitive information.
    • Experience applying a product management approach to technology solution delivery, focusing on customer-centricity, value creation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to learn e-commerce platforms, payment gateways, point-of-sale systems, and related technologies and business processes.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to follow and understand market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape in the e-commerce and payment services domain.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to balance technical feasibility with business viability.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships.
  • Proven track record of driving innovation and delivering successful technology solutions in a product management context.
  • Track record of successfully delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
