Position Summary:
Provide transportation for clients to program services, medical appointments, meetings, recreational activities. Provides support to program services; Responsible for vehicle maintenance and related paperwork.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide transportation for client’s to attend Outpatient programming as scheduled. Includes doctor’s s appoints, recreational activities, to attend recovery support meetings, etc.
- Prepare weekly transportation schedule with Program Supervisor and Care Navigator
- Complete Daily vehicle maintenance inspections. . Responsible for maintaining reports regarding maintenance and mileage of vehicles. Enter vehicle data into the intranet system.
- Assist with client interventions and redirect clients when behavior is inappropriate.
- Communicate with clinical staff daily regarding client behavior while being transported. Provide input in clinical team meetings when necessary
- Communicate directly with the Program Director or Designee, regarding client’s major infractions of rules, including acts of violence and drug use.
- Assists with safety in the treatment facility.
- Search client for drugs, illegal items, etc.
- Maintains and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic community concepts and treatment principles.
- Participates as member of the treatment team by being responsible for implementing the therapeutic community milieu including:
- Modeling and mentoring recovery behaviors,
- supporting the culture of the TC,
- supporting conflict resolution,
- ensuring that therapeutic community structure and activities are implemented according to guidelines,
- understanding and implementing sanction and reward systems;
- understanding and implementing the mechanisms of addressing and reporting client behavior that presents opportunities for learning and behavior change
- maintaining awareness of dynamics occurring in the milieu by active presence and participation in client scheduled activities and when clients are not involved in scheduled activities
- Responsible for providing role modeling in the areas of appropriate communication and interaction with clients and peers.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education:
Minimum of High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), and a minimum of one year’s experience in the field of substance abuse treatment. Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office. Supporting conflict resolution

Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in an office or residential treatment setting; and
- Some outdoor activities may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility, to work in the office environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces) to interact with co-workers in the office environment, sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds. Constant use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files). Requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication.
- Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as vision adequate for driving a motor vehicle. This factor is required to complete paperwork for many of the employee’s essential job functions and when driving a motor vehicle.
- The normal work routine involves no exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissues. Job duties do not include performing or assisting in emergency medical care or first aid.
Mental Demands:
- Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions.
- Requires the ability to work and cooperate with clients, co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels in order to exchange ideas, information, instructions and opinions.
