Community Skills Coach

Location and Overview:

Community Programs of WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 40 hours per week, Community Skills Coach to work in our Community Engagement Program. Under the general supervision of the Employment Coordinator, the Community Skills Coach assists in supporting individuals with disabilities in the community in leisure activities, internships and job placements.

WJCS, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1943 and has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester county. We provide state-of-the-art programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds throughout Westchester.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing assistance at volunteer jobs, social events and community classes.
• Support in the overall operation of the community-based residence.
• Practicing justice, fairness, and equity for the people you support and the community as a whole.
• Affirm the human rights, civil rights and responsibilities of the people you support.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in Human Services preferred
• 6-12 months experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
• Able to participate in, pass and maintain certification of WJCS required training that includes but may not be limited to Medication Administration, SCIP, CPR/First Aid, Driving the Van and Mandatory Training as identified by OPWDD.
• A Valid Driver’s License for over two years is a must.

Salary Range:

• $17.00 - $18.50
