Employment Specialist

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is a large, not for profit, organization with Headquarters in White Plains, NY. We are currently searching for a full-time Employment Specialist to work in our employment engagement and training program located in WJCS’ vocational center.

Under general supervision of the Employment Training and Engagement Manager, the Employment Specialist will provide direct services to individuals with developmental disabilities who are seeking to obtain and maintain community based competitive employment.

Responsibilities include:

• Completing the discovery process
• Assisting individuals through the process of job development, employment acquisition, and job coaching at work sites
• Responsible for the completion of documentation and billing in compliance with OPWDD regulations and agency policy
• Provide a person-centered approach to customized employment.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• The ideal candidate will have some college experience. A Bachelor’s degree in human services field with a minimum of one-year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Job Development and Job Coaching experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and group process skills
• Ability to be accurate, conscientious and flexible with attention to detail
• A valid NYS driver’s license and able to travel within the community.

Salary Range:

• $35,000 - $40,000
