What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Advisor position at WesTech Engineering, LLC?

We have an immediate need for a full-time Safety Advisor who will promote safety excellence throughout the business to the highest level. The Safety Advisor is an intermediate-level position working in a developing capacity with increased responsibilities performing a range of duties independently and together with the EHS Group and other business units.
Some of the work that you will do:
- Provide leadership and establish a safety culture within WesTech
- Confers and cooperates with management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures
- Implements plans to ensure site safety for clients, employees, contractors, and subcontractors
- Develop and oversee industrial hygiene sampling plans and implementation of hazard controls. Scheduling, tracking, and administration of safety and compliance activities for the organization
- Prepare and enforce corporate & client policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Conduct audits to verify compliance and identify unsafe conditions
- Maintain documentation necessary to comply with the Safety Management Plan, OSHA and other applicable regulations
- Maintain incidents spreadsheet and tracking
- Assist in managing drug testing and background investigation results for access to various client sites
- Interact with OSHA and other regulatory agencies regarding citations, accidents, claims, site visits and audits
Here are the skills that you need:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
- Experience: Prior experience working in a safety-focused role for at least 2 – 5 years
- Understanding of federal/state/municipal health and safety guidelines
- Possess excellent computer skills – MS Office Suite
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presenting classroom-based in-person training
- Possess a positive attitude
- Ability to speak and write in English at a proficient or higher level
- Willingness to travel
- Potential travel up to 20%

- Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or industrial servicing
- OSHA 500
- HAZWOPER Training
- Experience with facilities risk assessment
- CSP, GSP, ASP, or similar accreditation
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work from a desk for prolonged periods and regularly move around the facility.
- Standing, Walking, Climbing, including a step ladder, stooping, sitting, bending, talking, hearing, and seeing.
- Work at heights, work in confined spaces, work with hazardous chemicals, work at computer/desk and table
