We currently have an opening for a Buyer 2. This position will provide best value and service for internal customers. Converts purchasing requisitions into purchase orders quickly, ensuring customer needs are met. Provides support in functional areas of the purchasing department and assists with various other activities as required. Some administrative support may be required.

Essential Skills, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to parts master and drawings; clarifying unclear items; and recommending alternatives
- Uses ERP system to make purchasing decisions, generates requests for quote with fabrication suppliers, and evaluates quotes based on best quality, cost, and delivery
- Manages suppliers to high performance standards of quality, cost and on time delivery
- Awards bids and prepares purchase orders to qualified suppliers in coordination with project managers to meet project requirements
- Participates in weekly supplier follow up to meet delivery commitments
- Coordinates with Production Groups on delivery timetable in weekly job scheduling meetings
- Travels to supplier locations as needed
- Keeps information accessible by utilizing SharePoint for filing documents
- Ability to communicate effectively and deal fairly and equitably with group members, peers and suppliers
- Must be able to work in a schedule-driven environment. Timing is a critical function
- Must be able to work within project budget and complete work in a timely manner
- Prepares reports, data entry and other administrative tasks as required
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree OR equivalent work experience.
- Experience:
- 2 years’ of directly related work experience in purchasing
- Experience purchasing machined and/or fabricated steel components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations
- Microsoft Dynamics ERP knowledge and experience preferred
- Expertise in using MS Office tools including Outlook
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with both an internal and external customer focus
- Demonstrated organization and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail and follow through
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work within deadlines
