Content Area or Department Brief Description
WestEd’s Early Childhood Intervention, Mental Health and Inclusion (ECIMHI) team provides training and technical assistance in policy development, translation of research to practice, systems evaluation, and implementation of evidence-based practices in support of infants, toddlers and young children and their families. The ECIMHI team partners with federal, state, and local education, health, developmental and behavioral/mental health agencies and programs to transform early childhood programs and systems and create deep and lasting impact for children and their families. Our projects and services utilize research-informed strategies and meaningful stakeholder engagement to build the capacity of systems and service providers within these systems to implement effective and equity-driven procedures, processes and practices that support successful outcomes for diverse, vulnerable and traditionally under-served populations. The Opportunity
Our team is seeking a dynamic Administrative Assistant to join a fast-paced environment. Our team focuses on projects that lie at the intersection of racial equity, social justice, infant-family and early childhood mental health and workforce development. You must live in King County, Washington and be able to work from our Seattle office a few days a week. You will undertake a variety of project support, administrative and virtual and in-person training support activities. Specifically, this position includes supporting scheduling meetings and calendaring events, supporting hosting Zoom workshops and supporting the team. The ideal candidate will have experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as the ability to flex communication styles to match multiple cultural environments. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and ability to present to diverse audiences. Spoken and written language abilities in either Mandarin, Cantonese, Somali, Amharic, or Vietnamese is preferred.
Core Focus Areas
Administrative:
- Manage calendars for the Project Director including scheduling meetings
- Process travel authorizations, make travel arrangements, process expenses
- Complete occasional data entry into the virtual registration system
- Organizing ordering and shipping
Event Production:
- Provide support for virtual Zoom trainings, including hosting and creating breakout rooms.
- Take attendance and support survey completion
- Provide support for in-person trainings in King County. This includes activities such as room set-up and clean-up and helping with on-site registration and handing out certificates.
- Support material creation and sharing for virtual and in-person activities
What We’re Looking For
- Must be located in King County, Washington.
- A commitment to racial and social justice and improving outcomes for young children and their families
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Experience with common web-based business solutions, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and managing Zoom meetings
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team member
- Speak and engage in written communications in a second language
- Good writing ability and command of the English language.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate work around multiple tasks and multiple deadlines with a variety of staff members.
- Initiative, resourcefulness, and careful attention to detail.
- Strong organization skills and ability to anticipate needs, following-through on completion of tasks and responsibilities.
- High tolerance for ambiguity, changing work priorities and deadlines
