The Tax Associate will support various tax functions including Federal, State and Local tax compliance, estimated tax payments, tax provision computations, internal controls, internal/external audits, forecasting/tax planning and various special projects. The Tax Associate will report to the Tax Manager and will be based at Company headquarters located in downtown Phoenix, AZ. The Tax Associate will be a key member of the tax department as the Company continues to grow and evolve.What we are looking for:
- Assist with in-house preparation of Federal, State and Local tax returns along with all supporting workpapers and reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of the tax provision under ASC 740 along with all supporting workpapers and reconciliations.
- Calculate estimates of tax payments for cash projection and estimated tax purposes.
- Help update and maintain records related to tax fixed assets.
- Assist with documentation surrounding departmental policies, procedures and processes.
- Assist with the preparation of responses to taxing authority inquiries related to compliance.
- Assist with audits and examinations by various taxing authorities and jurisdictions, including required internal and external coordination.
- Assist with tax research and analysis of new or revised tax laws and the potential impact on the Company.
- Assist with tax research and analysis in response to requests from other business areas with regards to sales and use tax, property tax, fees, assessments, tax forms (including forms 1099), withholding, federal income tax, state income tax, etc.
- Work on special projects and tax planning as needed.
- Adhere to all Company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in the building of a professional, proactive, responsive, technically strong tax organization.
What you need to have:
- Master's degree in Tax, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent education and experience (1 to 3 years' Tax Accounting experience).
- Basic knowledge of: U.S. Federal, state, local taxes and GAAP accounting.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Initiative to develop strong technical competency to achieve business objectives.
- Active CPA license or desire to obtain CPA license a plus.
- Large corporate tax compliance software (OneSource) experience preferred, but not required.
- Tax research software (Bloomberg BNA/RIA Checkpoint) experience preferred, but not required.
