Position Summary |
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus. The School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Law invites applications for a 9-month renewable fixed-term Instructor position in Accounting beginning Spring 2023. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a candidate has been identified. Preference will be given to those with experience teaching intro to financial and managerial accounting. Applicant may teach additional accounting courses as needed. The normal teaching load is four courses (twelve credit hours) per semester. Teaching both traditional and online courses will be expected. The successful candidate will coordinate the Financial Accounting sections in collaboration with the Accounting faculty to ensure consistency and uniformity of both the traditional and online courses. This position is responsible for updating exams each semester, modifying and/or creating a practice set, and ensuring consistency in the grading scale across all sections. The successful candidate will satisfy and maintain qualifications to meet AACSB accreditation standards. This includes publication in peer review journals and other scholarly activities such as conference presentations. The successful candidate will be expected to be an excellent teacher. The successful candidate will advise students and be involved in appropriate student organizations. Candidates should have a strong record or show promise to contribute to the intellectual and practical lives of students and other stakeholders of the School, College, University, and business community. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position | |
Minimum Qualifications | A Master of Accountancy. The successful candidate will teach financial and managerial accounting courses, therefore, candidates with Juris Doctors and Masters of Laws in Taxation degrees who do not also have a minimum of 18 credit hours of graduate coursework in Accounting will not meet the minimum requirements for this position and should not apply. All applicants must be academically qualified as defined by the College of Business's definition established for AACSB accreditation. |
Preferred Qualifications | Professional certification and experience in the accounting industry is desirable. The normal teaching load is four courses (twelve hours) per semester, with the possibility of some teaching responsibilities using on-line methodologies. Preference will be given to those with experience teaching financial and managerial accounting and those who have taught on-line accounting courses. |
