Job Objective:
The Food & Recreation Coordinator will have responsibility for, but not be limited to, overseeing food pantry and recreational activities provided by The Salvation Army in Floyd County.
Essential Functions:

Food Coordinator Duties:
- Observe strict confidentiality regarding information relating to clients and administrative matters when talking with other staff members and/or persons not directly involved in casework services.
- Be able to answer phones and do initial intake services to identify needs of clients.
- Follow Salvation Army procedures for determining eligibility, maintaining records, requesting vouchers, and working with vendors and landlords.
- Keep statistical information for reports as required by The Salvation Army.
- Prepare food order requests and maintain the food pantry to all guidelines provided by Dare to Care Foodbank and Indiana TEFAP.
- Be available for regular Regional Salvation Army Social Services meetings as scheduled by the Corps Officers.
Recreation Coordinator Duties:
- Open and Close building according to procedures for evening events and activities.
- Plan and implement activities during youth activities which includes but is not limited to Kids Club and Teen Night.
- Help organize recreational sporting leagues and manage the sign up, practice coordination, and game days.
- Be knowledgeable about sport rules and be able to enforce them during league time.
- Closely monitor the youth during all activities.
- Help clean recreation areas according to the maintenance schedule.
- Always follow proper procedures for discipline and ask for assistance when needed.
- Be available for other duties as assigned by the Christian Education Director.
- Follow all safety guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: A successful applicant for this position will have a high school degree. She/he will possess the skills and experience that will allow them to be comfortable with computer based casework.
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual from this position.
Experience: At least two years of working with children. Competitive sports experience preferred.
Certifications: A valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with clients and staff. A working knowledge of basic computer skills and the ability to learn and develop needed computer skills. An analytical mind coupled with a compassionate spirit and mental toughness needed.
Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

Good speaking, hearing, vision ability, and manual dexterity. Lifting, pulling, and pushing of materials up to 50 pounds. Requires bending, squatting, walking, and may stand for extended periods.
Travel: Position may require occasional travel for training.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office environment.
