Western Veterinary Clinic is seeking a full time LVT or LVT candidate to join our team. We are a busy 6 doctor practice located in the growing community of Williston, ND. Our newly remodeled facility is equipped with digital and dental x-ray, ultrasound, and full in-house lab. We offer competitive wage and benefit package.
Veterinary Technician
Job Summary:
The technician will work under the direct supervision of the Veterinarians primarily in the small animal department.
· Perform proper restraint of multiple small animal species for collection of samples as well as treatment of hospitalized patients.
· Collect and prepare samples (blood, urine, feces) for analysis.
· Laboratory work: Blood analysis - CBC with manual differential count, ability to run in-house chemistry analyzers, fecal analysis, urinalysis.
· Anesthesia/Surgery: Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring during procedure. Ability and/or willingness to learn to perform dentistry on dogs and cats.
· Radiology: Positioning and restraint animals for radiographs and ultrasonography.
· Treatment and care of hospitalized patients.
· Admission/care/discharge of surgical patients.
· Utilization of the computer program to access patient files for the purpose of inputting patient prescriptions/history/lab files, etc.
· May be required to assist with receiving and marking of inventory.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, 2 or 4 Degree in Veterinary/Lab Technology are strongly recommended but not required.
Experience Requirements:
Further education in veterinary technology/medicine is recommended or equivalent on-the-job training.
Specialized Training Requirements:
Further education in veterinary technology/medicine is recommended or equivalent on-the-job training.
Aptitudes and Skills Requirements:
· Ability and/or willingness to work with multiple animal species.
· Possess the ability to safely lift 50-60 lbs and withstand prolonged periods of standing.
