Description
We have an immediate opening for a full time Teacher at our Elm Street Early Learning Center. The Westfield Area Y offers a rewarding, professional, work environment in return for your exceptional care! Applicants must be reliable, dependable and must love working with children.
The Teacher is responsible for the overall daily operations of assigned classroom; Provides a balance of activities and experiences developmentally appropriate to the age of the children that fosters independence and provides opportunities for social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth; Maintains a safe & healthy environment at all times; reports all safety hazards immediately.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervise Assistant Teacher in the classroom
- Develop careful and creative lessons suitable for children
- Use educational techniques (story telling, educational play, media, etc...) to teach children
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Track children's progress and report to parents
- Communicate with parents regularly
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Requirements
High School Diploma required and experience working with children
CDA, AA, or BA degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education preferred
Strong communication skills
Creative and nurturing
Salary : $16 - $20
