Responsibilities
- Assists in creating and implementing security standards, policies, and guidelines for mainframe systems to ensure data protection and compliance.
- Designs, engineers, and implements solutions/processes to provide efficient and reliable storage allocation and troubleshooting for dataset restores, dataset or data file moves, volume build, volume moves, and disk configuration.
- Recommends fine tune system parameters and configuration to optimize performance related to storage and plans future capacity storage needs.
- Interacts and communicates effectively with various stakeholders, including business contacts, to understand their requirements and provide technical support.
- Installs, maintains, tests, and provides support for mainframe components, such as DB2 for z/OS, IMS, and related products, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Acts as a technical liaison between technical services and application development teams, facilitating effective collaboration and problem resolution.
- Develops, manages, and prepares project plans to monitor the implementation progress and schedules of mainframe-related projects.
- Utilizes project management skills to plan, coordinate, and control mainframe projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
- Implements system and data security measures, including access controls, auditing, and logging, to comply with information security policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provides support ensuring the availability and stability of mainframe systems and addressing any incidents or service requests and adheres to standard IT processes, strategic principles, and architectural standards in the design and implementation of mainframe systems and solutions.
- 4 years of experience in IBM mainframe hardware or software systems.
- Demonstrated ability to grasp complex technical concepts and systems quickly.
- Experience building and managing DevSecOps technologies, including but not limited to: IBM Dependency Based Build, Groovy, Jenkins and Azure pipelines, UrbanCode deploy and YAML.
- Experiencing using and managing Containers, Windows servers and Linux experience including but not limited to: Bash, PowerShell, RHEL, OpenShift
- Expertise in REST APIs and messaging technologies including MQ, z/OS Connect and CICS Web Services.
- Experience using and managing RACF and zSecure Admin and Audit.
- Experience configuring and support IDEs such as Eclipse, VSCode, and IBM Developer for z/OS.
- Self-driven with proven ability to prioritize, manage time and plan effectively in accomplishing goals.
- Experience support application developers with level two support for COBOL, z/OS Connect, Assembler and Rexx.
- Ability to utilize critical thinking to make decisions at a fast pace, provide constructive feedback and deal with conflict.
- Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to learn.
- Expertise with Application development tools such as IBM’s Debug Tool, Fault Analyzer, Performance Analyzer and File Manager.
- Experience in configuration of proactive monitoring an alerting with Mainframe monitoring and distributed tools such as SolarWinds.
- Expertise with core inter-networking concepts to include TCP/IP, VTAM, routing, firewalls, DNS, SSL, HTTP/HTTPS and encryption technologies.
- Db2 Systems programming experience
- Expertise in batch and real-time mainframe processing methodologies.
- Experience with core IBM mainframe technologies including but not limited to z/OS, CICS, storage, DB2, z/OSMF, SDSF, JES2, VTAM. ISPF, JCL, VSAM utilities, assembler, RACF, SQL, CLIST, REXX, COBOL, MQ, SMPE, Db2 utilities, mainframe monitors, JCL checker, Unix System Services.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills resulting in the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and employee population.
- Self-driven with proven ability to prioritize, manage time and plan effectively in accomplishing goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other related field or commensurate experience.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.
