SUMMARY
The Logistics Analyst supports the logistics team in ensuring costs associated with transportation/storage of finished goods, raw materials, excess, obsolete and packaging inventory for all Epoxy NA sites are accurately assigned. With little oversight, the candidate is tasked with ensuring accurate transportation/storage rates are in the system for all required services as well as validating invoices received are accurate and cleared in a timely manner. This position is a key driver in ensuring that correct payments to transportation/storage service providers are made in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted services while minimizing transportation costs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Work independently with minimal direction to reconcile vendor and agent invoices for accuracy and contract compliance; review, code and approve transportation invoices for payment
- Manage assessorial accruals for carriers as well as tracking rail fleet status
- Maintain freight rate table data accuracy in SAP as it pertains to carriers and customer requirements.
- Provide backup and support for the scheduling and execution of logistical related issues for all Epoxy NA Business.
- Coordinate root cause and corrective action matrix for vendor non-conformance issues at all NA Epoxy Business.
- Work with Logistics on their initiatives and use them for support when needed.
- Manage process and procedure for debit memo creation and tracking for customer related freight costs for which they are liable (returns, cancelled loads, demurrage, etc)
- Must communicate effectively with all related parties above and must proactively manage or escalate all exceptions or problems that arise.
- Find creative ways to identify areas of improvement, potential cost savings projects, and serve as a subject matter expert for logistical issues.
- Measure, analyze and report key process metrics, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to judge where focus needs to be concentrated.
- Assist with filing of carrier claims and incident reports.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree, preferably in supply chain, or equivalent experience
- Minimum five years’ experience / strong knowledge of logistics and the various modes of transportation (trucks, rail, barge, vessel, air)
- Familiarity with ERP tools specifically SAP and SAP’s data warehouse preferred Excellent level of written and spoken English
- Meets deadlines and work under pressure, with limited supervision
- Ability to clearly communicate analysis results verbally and in written form.
- Resolve service issues and help implement processes for continual improvement
- Intermediate experience with Excel required
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required
- Consistently demonstrates proven ability to learn and use necessary tools
- Ability to follow process and standard procedures required
- Experience in Import/Export process to be able to provide backup support as needed
- ERP and transportation management system knowledge and usage highly desirable; SAP a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify the root cause and articulate associated action plans
- Demonstrate sound judgement, strong decision making and presentation skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Significant digital dexterity, e.g. using computer keyboard is required. Use of oral communication to perform work is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an open office concept. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
