Job Description

Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is currently hiring a Program Coordinator.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

Develop, plan, coordinate, and implement an engaging comprehensive program for Independent Living residents to include cultural, social, educational, and wellness opportunities.

Demonstrates passion and creativity in bringing new programs and unique events to our community through fostering new and existing partnerships with local organizations.

Perform, in cooperation, with residents, staff and community resources.

Develop, promote, implement, and evaluate programs for residents in the areas of recreation, creative arts, and intellectual programming.

Plan and Coordinate recurring community excursions, special events, guest lectures / artists.

  • Plan and coordinate annual and holiday events such as the New Year’s Eve Party, Anniversary Party, Mardi Gras Parade, etc.
  • Coordination with, and solicitation, of appropriate community resources to promote resident engagement in community events, programs, lectures, and activities.
  • Works with the Senior Manager of Resident Life to plan and coordinate the yearly curriculum for the WC Lifelong Learning Institute.
  • Create and publish a monthly calendar of events / programs. Maintain the in-house television station by inputting current events and scheduling monthly television programming with the Sr.

Manager of Resident Life and Resident TV committee. Submit a weekly schedule of programs to the in-house newsletter, SEAGULL CHATTER, and work with the Resident Chatter Committee on newsletter production.

  • Plan and offer a semi-annual Cultural & Educational Series that encompasses areas of resident interest.
  • Develop a proposed budget for the Program Department each fiscal year and track monthly department expenses.
  • Coordinate transportation for community excursions to off-site programs, events, concerts. Maintain records of resident participation and interest.
  • Manage community bulletin boards, resident art exhibits, and private vendor sales. Manage and Order appropriate equipment and supplies.

Manage Arts and Craft Center.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL :

  • College degree in Gerontology, Hospitality, Recreation, or related field.
  • Experience in event planning and coordinating cultural, creative arts, or like programs.
  • Experience working with older adult population preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Ability to climb stairs, stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to assist residents getting on and off the bus.
  • Ability to assist residents walking with a walker, and to ability to provide direction when needed.
  • Ability to push residents in wheelchairs.
