The Front Desk Position operates telephones in a polite and friendly manner following proper telephone etiquette. Greets members and guests, assists with all reservations, distributes Club information and schedules, and collects and sorts the mail on a daily basis. Additionally, the Front Desk Staff oversee the guest rooms and are responsible for making sure the rooms are properly cleaned and are ready for check-in.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet all members and guests as soon as they enter or leave the Clubhouse
- Smile :)
- Answer the phone in a polite, clear, courteous manner
- Take telephone messages and email or pass on as soon as you receive them
- Route telephone calls to the correct extensions
- Be knowledgeable about on goings at the Club and be informative to members when they call
- Accept dinning, yacht, guest room, sports fishing and special event reservations and record them according to club policy
- Assist in setting up daily continental breakfast for in-house guests
- Provide schedules and other Club and Nantucket related information to all members and guests
- Collect, sort and distribute all incoming mail, newspapers and deliveries from package companies
- Update and maintain member mailing and telephone lists
- Maintain appearance of reception area
- Oversee all lost and found items
- Assist with any clerical tasks as needed

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Set Requirements
- Ability to maintain a pleasant, calm disposition under stress
- Must have friendly, outgoing personality
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position.
- Possess strong work ethic
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet explorer
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/ Qualifications Required
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in a related position preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift between 15-30 pounds (food trays, beverage boxes, tables, etc)
- Standing for up to 9 hours at a time
- Going up and down stairs
- Ability to frequently bend, using back and knees.
- Ability to stand and walk constantly is required. Minimal crawling required.
- Ability to bend, twist, crouch, squat, pull, push, reach, and remain stationary for short period of times and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to use hands, fingers, arms and wrists, hearing, smell, and verbal skills are required in order to perform job duties.
- Ability to differentiate color
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor conditions.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends and Holidays
Standard Club Requirements:
Employees are expected to present a clean and neat appearance while on the job. Clothing is to be kept clean and pressed. Personal cleanliness is expected, including wearing deodorant, bathing and oral hygiene. Excessive make-up and jewelry is not permitted. Employees are expected to arrive to work on time and leave personal belongings at home or in a locker. Employees should conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with members, management and other staff.
Work Hours:
Full and Part time employees must work all scheduled shifts. We have a short three month season at the Westmoor Club and need every employee to be here 100% of the time that they were hired for. Requested days off will try to be honored by management but never guaranteed. If there is a scheduling need within the club, that takes priority. This includes Holiday’s, Mornings, Afternoons, Nights and Weekends. If an employee is sick they are expected to get their shift covered and speak directly to a manager for approval. All employee shift changes must be put in writing on a (shift change request form) and approved by a manager. We do understand that people get sick and things come up so please be flexible and helpful to other employees that may need a shift covered.
