Field Safety Officer

Weston & Sampson Services is looking for a Field Safety Officer with 1-3 years of experience out of our Wilmington office.

What you’ll do:

• Complete on-site safety audits at active project sites
• Prepare and review Health & Safety plans and manuals for ongoing operations at various work sites
• Complete work site and facility inspections as required to meet regulatory compliance
• Prepare safety review and safety audit summaries to identify action items
• Complete and track safety audits and reports to management and safety committee for review
• Review and track incident and near-miss reports, conduct incident and near-miss reviews with staff
• Provide support administrative support: training, record keeping, policy review and updates
• Attend corporate safety meetings and group meetings
• Other duties as required
• Possible overnight and weekend work, some overnight travel may be required

What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental science or equivalent with a concentration in health and safety preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in health & safety environment
• Successful completion of OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety
• Successful completion of OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety (preferred not required)
• OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) Certification (preferred not required)
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (preferred not required)
• Water and Wastewater treatment experience (preferred not required)
• Working knowledge and proficiency in environmental, construction, infrastructure operation, and maintenance and engineering (preferred but not required)
• Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Understand safe work practices and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
• Keen attention to detail
• Flexibility to meet project schedules or emergency response events (some night or weekend work may be required)
• Strong communication skills (listening, verbal, written)
• Ability to multi-task and be organized
• Valid driver’s license
