What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flatline Spray Tech position at WestRock?
WestRock is looking for a Flat Line Spray Tech for our Wood Department at our facility in Forest City, NC. This position is for our 1st shift and will support Production and Manufacturing goals. This role is right for you if you have machine operation experience and enjoy driving results and accuracy in a manufacturing environment.
Title: Flat Line Spray Tech – Forest City, NC
Summary: The Flat Line Operator is responsible for the set-up and overall operation of the Flat Line and the quality of the work produced.
The opportunity:
- Collect paperwork, collect the proper paint per job specs and make sure the correct parts are present.
- Set up paint at the spray pump and use agitator to mix
- Place parts on conveyer and process single part for quality review.
- Verify proper coloring and coverage and adjust as needed. After making the adjustments get the part approved by Quality or the proper personnel.
- Frequently check the part as the machine is operating and place Quality label
- Communicate frequently with Flatline Workers regarding quality and efficiency
- Complete proper ID tags with shop order number, part number, quantity, and operation number
- Communicates to the on coming shift any issues prior to start up
- Use of proper Personal Protective Equipment required for machine/department
- Maintains assigned work area in clean & orderly fashion
- Check all safety devices
- Must be able to maintain the required adjusted average efficiency
- Operate forklift as necessary
- Manufacture order tickets – complete how many run and scrapped. Turn in when the order is complete
- Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with others and work in a team-based environment

HAZARDOUS WASTE RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE:
- Assists with management of hazardous waste, universal waste, special waste and non-hazardous waste; Must be able to identify waste, waste minimization, waste characterization, transportation and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Must transport from accumulation points to hazardous waste area.
- Assists with maintaining and monitoring the hazardous waste area and universal shed for housekeeping and the amount of wastes accumulated.
- Must assist in transportation of hazardous waste with hazardous waste pick up company.
- Maintains pick up on the floor including of picking up dirty wipes each evening, bulbs and battery pick up, and cut sleeves; Distributes clean wipes to the floor.
- Must meet regulatory hazmat training including annual waste management training and DOT shipping training every three years; knowledgeable in all rules and regulations of hazardous waste and meticulous with records and recordkeeping; Responsible for numerous weekly checklists, inspections and monthly paint inventory and ordering of paints.
What you need to succeed:
- Mechanical and manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with Industrial painting preferred
- Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with others and work in a team-based environment
- High school diploma or GED minimum
