JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
Works in the Westwood Fitness Center assisting and checking-in members and guests as needed to use the facilities. Promptly greets club members and verifies their membership using appropriate computer database/roster. Monitors the Fitness Center, checks locker rooms hourly, maintains shift checklist, and assists with the coffee bar as needed. They carry out other tasks assigned by the Fitness Director, Aquatics, Business and other department heads. This is a Casual, Hourly position with varying hours.
Compensation: $14.00 per hour
Essential Job Functions: *including but not limited to*
- Greet all members in a friendly manner by name if possible. Ensure proper member check-in procedures for Fitness Center use. Politely ask for each member’s name and number and record information in the log with appropriate check-in/check-out time
- Verify membership with roster and/or the Club’s computer database.
- Take and record usage stats for cardio, cybex and pool areas every 30 minutes.
- Record guest information when necessary.
- Monitor activity in the Fitness Center. Observe and record statistics on the activity and use of fitness equipment (e.g. number of members using the treadmills or weight machines per day, etc.)
- Is courteous, helpful, friendly, and attentive at all times. Refer questions to Fitness Director if unable to satisfy member.
- Uphold policy limits for usage by minors. Request identification for all members under the age of 25 using member roster and ID log.
- Check both locker rooms hourly; pick up towels and kindly report any cleaning issues to maintenance for prompt attention; maintain shift log and monitor/check necessary lists daily.
- Carry out the Fitness Desk processes and procedures.
- Clean and maintain a proper reception desk and gym floor environment.
- Report equipment issues to the Fitness Director and Westwood Maintenance Department
- Notify appropriate department leaders in case of an emergency.
- Input revenues as directed and perform business-related office tasks when requested.
- Carry out and perform duties or tasks as asked by Aquatics or other department heads and/or the Business Office
- Carry out Coffee Shop Attendant duties and other job-related tasks as assigned by the Fitness Director
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
CPR Certification required. Prefer one year or more of custom-service and/or administrative experience. Ability to document, record and maintain statistical and log-in records.

Physical Demands:
This position requires standing, walking, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, holding/carrying, twisting/turning, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, sitting. Employees will have the ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds on a consistent basis. Must be able to stand and work in a hot, humid, and sometime loud environment for long periods of time. Must be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen environment, while maintaining accuracy.
