Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our team. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
This position will lead a survey team in the field collecting data to support design activities, boundary surveying, providing sketches, and layout to support construction activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients
- Perform field work for land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA, and topography for various project types
- Organize field staking materials as necessary
- Operate GPS, total stations, scanners, and data collectors
- Transfer files between data collectors and internal company project folders
- Provide communication to the office teams regarding project status, daily progress and issues
- Maintain productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
- Adhere to the company’s Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policies
- Ensures division, regional, and company policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
- Lead by example display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.
Required Skills
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions subject to weather, insects, and changing environments
Required Experience
- Ability to effectively lead a survey crew and train / mentor survey crew members
- Must be able to operate a total station and GPS in both static and RTK modes surveying activities pertaining to control networks, boundaries, ALTA’s, topography, and construction staking.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle with a valid license and clean driving history
- OSHA 10 and CPR / First Aid or ability and willingness to acquire it
- Must be able perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence
Preferred Experience
- An Associate’s Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of study
- Land Development, both Commercial and Residential, and Public Infrastructure Projects
- Coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff
- FAA Part 107 UAS License
- Ability to travel and remain on a project site for extended periods
