This role is responsible for the oversight of three (3) critical operational areas - Indirect Tax, Compliance Analytics, and Network Operations. Indirect Tax: Management and oversight of the timely and accurate preparation, submission and payment of US and Canadian indirect tax returns on a monthly basis, tracking refund claims, and reserve allocations for our motor fuel tax exemption program. Compliance Analytics: Governance and administration of a suite of Sarbanes Oxley and other internal management controls to ensure error-free operating environment, most notably around NAF and OTR merchant interchange rate accuracy. Network Operations: Management and oversight of merchant, network, and point of sale compliance and quality control standards with our EMV/CHIP and magstripe authorization specifications. OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT Command and control of all team deliverables, deadlines met on time with minimal to no defects and in line with service level objectives, customer experience standards, and client satisfaction goals. Issue resolution, complex problem solving and analytical work. Communications management across broad constituencies – internal associates, management, and senior team if/when applicable and external across various levels of the client organization. Define, document, and trend individual and team Key Performance Indicators ensuring alignment with Department MBOs and Operational Goals. Capacity planning, pipeline management, scheduling and resource management Productivity and quality tracking, both team and individual, to ensure optimal performance. Constantly strive to increase productivity and efficiency by initiating process improvements and advocating for technology enablers. Build operational bench strength by identifying at-risk knowledge/skill areas and developing & executing strategies to mitigate. Budget management to corporate goals and operational scale. INDIRECT TAX PROGRAM Manage and oversee the timely and accurate preparation, submission and payment of US and Canadian indirect tax returns on a monthly basis. Manage relationship with third-party providers for indirect tax compliance. Work with third-parties and subject matter experts to identify opportunities and reduce indirect tax risk. Oversee and manage the process of customer tax exemptions and the corresponding tax exemption certificates. Responsible for managing indirect tax technology to drive automation within the tax processes and reduce risk of manual error. Research, evaluate, and recommend to management any technology enablers. Manage all indirect tax jurisdictional correspondence. Manage refund claim process, applicable accounting treatment and reserve allocations. COMPLIANCE Ensure compliance of the external networks and accepting merchants to all applicable WEX Specifications (e.g. Authorization, Sales, and Site). Manage and oversee the Sarbanes Oxley control program within the department. Collaborate with Internal Audit, Corporate Tax and Legal to oversee the execution of the financial control systems in place within the department and ensuring that they are effectively designed to achieve the intended objectives. Evaluating the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously. PROJECT MANAGEMENT Partner with Sales, Product, Marketing, and other Operations Units to deploy new features and functionality in the merchant and network space (e.g. chip-enabled cards) and ensure adoption under appropriate timelines. Works with the business, partner and vendors to ensure quality and support of all projects through development, testing, pilot, and implementation phases. Ensures successful and complete implementation of new functionality for transaction authorization and processing. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT Responsible for core people management functions of Selection/Assessment, People Development, Performance Management, and Building Bench Strength/Succession Planning Oversee and guide the development and delivery of training plans, programs and documentation. Monitor and cultivate employee satisfaction and engagement. Motivate and inspire the team to provide a superior client experience Ensures systems are in place to measure capacity utilization. Productivity and quality tracking, both team and individual, to ensure optimal performance. Budget management to corporate goals and operational scale. Ideal candidate has background in general Operations The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
