The Credit Analyst will be responsible for analysing credit data to estimate the degree of risk involved in extending credit to potential and existing customer. The role will focus on the analysis of data, recommending credit limits and making informed decisions on credit approvals. Location: UK Based (Remote) Key duties and responsibilities include: Perform credit and financial analysis on new and existing customers in order to recommend credit limits and terms for Credit Committee consideration. Control and administer credit process from credit submission to approval and subsequently activation/updating. Make sound decisions on credit approvals within assigned Designation of Authority. Ability to monitor delivered exposures on marine portfolio, review lines in response to market changes and as credit policy dictates. Ensure proper internal controls and compliance with policies and procedures. Creating/preparing various reports for management. Maintaining/updating credit files in paper and electronic form as needed. Stay abreast of key freight and commodity market fundamentals as part of developing knowledge of clients and the sectors that they operate in Work closely with the rest of the credit team globally. Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned from time to time. Person specification: This role is best suited to a graduate with previous working experience in a similar role or a candidate looking to change paths into the commodity markets area. We will equip the successful candidate with the working knowledge of commodity trading and the international freight markets, enabling them to advance their career in whichever segment attracts their interest. Marine credit requires a strong grasp of commodity fundamentals and analytical ability and does not focus solely on the analysis of financial statements. Essential skills: University degree, preferably in Accounting, Economics, Finance or Business Previous work experience in an analytical role A good understanding of basic accounting principles A strong interest in the global commodity and freight markets. Excellent analytical and numerical capabilities A keen attention to detail Strong written and oral communication skills Proactive, self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines Excellent computer software skills (Microsoft Office suite) A team player, with good interpersonal skills and at ease working in multi-cultural environments Resourceful and able to multi-task with ease Highly desirable: Knowledge of risk mitigation tools, including international security documentation instruments, standby letters of credit and bank guarantees Understanding of the shipping industry Experience of working in the maritime/commodity sector is advantageous, but not essential
