Job Summary
The Whatcom County Administrative Services - Division on Facilities is hiring a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician to assist with general maintenance and repair at a variety of County buildings.
This position will perform routine, semi-skilled, and specialized tasks related to general maintenance, operation, and repair of facilities, systems, and equipment, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry repairs It will assist Facilities Technical Specialists in performing complex tasks. It will balance team and individual responsibilities with minimal supervision and within scope of established guidelines and practices. This position complies with codes, ordinances, rules, regulations, standards, and requirements. Answers questions pertaining to departmental functions and technical matters and provides technical assistance and information, as authorized. Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships and communications. Coordinates work with other staff.

Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Qualifications
Requires high school diploma or GED and four years of increasingly responsible building maintenance and repair experience, including basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical repair, and painting.
Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
Background check must meet County criteria for security sensitive positions.
Must be eligible to cross between the United States and Canada.
Must pass a pre-employment physical capacities test.
Salary
Master Collective Bargaining Agreement
Range 112.2
Salary: $22.38 - $33.65 per hour, DOQ
Hiring rate negotiable depending on experience. This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range.
