Traditional Service and Associate Care Pastor Part-time

The Traditional Service and Associate Care Pastor will lead his ministry so that he supports the Purpose, Mission and Values of Wheaton Bible Church of seeing people Love God, Love One Another, Love our Neighbors, and Love the Nations. He will do this as part of the Congregational Care Team. This is a part-time role at approximately 25 hours per week.

Traditional Service (20%)

A pastor who ill serve as regular Pastoral Presence and Care for the Traditional service. Responsibilities as follows:

  • Be visible and present before and after traditional services.
  • Participate as the primary pastor in the worship flow of the traditional services by welcoming, pastoral prayers, Scripture reading, communion, and benedictions.
  • Be available to answer questions and pray for traditional service congregants.
  • Practice home visitations (or equivalent) with the traditional service congregants as part of his shepherding duties.
Congregational Care (50%)
Partner with the Congregational Care Pastor in carrying out our unified approach to congregational care ministry for the church. Develop teams to lead and work alongside the following ministries: visitation, benevolence, and funerals. Serve as a congregational care point person and shepherding advisor alongside the Congregational Care Pastor with input and guidance to the shepherding team regarding congregational care.
Visitation
Pastoral point person for Visitation Teams. Coordinate with pastors and lay teams in the care and visitation at hospitals, with shut-ins, etc.
Benevolence
Pastoral point person for benevolence overseeing systems and processes. Coordinate with Puente de Pueblo and local benevolence partners. Continued care of follow-up.
Funerals
Pastoral point person for Funerals overseeing systems and processes. Coordinate with Funerals Homes, Pastors, and WBC Funeral Coordinator. Coordinate continued care and follow-up with families post funeral.
Seniors’ Ministry (20%)
Lead the Seniors’ Ministry Team in its coordination of connection and care events for Seniors across our church.

General Church Staff Involvement (10%)

Serve as one of the shepherds on-call to meet the general needs of the church congregation when necessary. Function as a member of the church’s Shepherding staff attending staff development meetings, staff prayer. Serve in staff-led projects or ministry initiatives that benefit WBC such as Christmas and Easter services and programs such as, CareFest, and Missions Fest. Maintain a high degree of confidentiality due to the nature of individual membership records, ministerial counseling and care, and correspondences. Participate as a member of the WBC staff team and be available to assist in general duties as opportunities arise, being fully present as a shepherd.

Requirements
  • 5 years of ministry experience in a church/chaplaincy
  • Biblical Ministry degree or equivalency
  • Completion of an approved Ordination Certificate or willingness to go through the ordination process.
