What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Success Advisor (temporary) position at Wheaton College?

The Student Success Advisor (SSA) engages students in proactive and individualized academic advising support and manages caseloads of students to positively influence overall student engagement, persistence, and academic success. The Advising Staff uses data to identify and reach out to students who may be vulnerable, respond to student referrals and early alerts from faculty and staff, and assist students who seek help. SSAs support departmental student success programming and serve as contributing members of efforts that advance equity, inclusion and diversity at the college. SSAs serve in other relevant capacities and support various projects as assigned.

This temporary role provides remote/online academic advising support directly to students, 10 hours per week during the academic semester.

Minimum Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience advising and/or working with a diverse undergraduate student population to support student development and strategic learning while advancing the work of equity and inclusivity through advising and other student success initiatives. Masters degree

Preferred Qualifications:
5 years experience

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The starting hourly rate for this position is $30/hr.
